Connection via Loxone Link
Extensions connect to the Miniserver via Loxone Link, a dedicated expansion bus for DIN rail modules in the distribution board. Up to 30 extensions can be connected to a single Miniserver.
Each extension provides a specific function, such as additional relays, dimmer channels or an interface to a third-party system. In Loxone Config their channels appear as further inputs and outputs of the Miniserver.
Important Extension Types
The Relay Extension provides 14 potential-free relays for loads up to 16 A. The Dimmer Extension delivers four channels for 24 V LED with up to 50 W each. The DALI Extension controls up to 64 DALI participants for lighting.
For media and third-party systems there are the DMX Extension for lighting technology, the 1-Wire Extension for temperature sensors and the Modbus Extension for meters and plant technology. This also brings non-Loxone devices into the central logic.
Extensions, Tree and Air Together
Extensions, Tree and Air complement each other: extensions sit as modules in the distribution board on Loxone Link, Tree carries the free wiring into the rooms, and Air covers points without cabling. Special bridges couple the worlds, such as a Tree-to-Air Bridge.
In the vendor-neutral model of venfree, extensions correspond to the actuator and interface modules that sit as DIN rail devices in the distribution board in KNX. The purpose is the same, but the connection runs over the proprietary Loxone Link instead of the KNX bus.
